No guide to Secret London would be complete without visits to some of London's outlying places, and so, in this section of the website, we're going to head to the Capital's outskirts to uncover the many treasures to be found there.
THE MARC BOLAN MEMORIAL
Queen's Ride, Barnes Common, Barnes.
Alongside Queen's Ride, one of the roads that twists its way alongside Barnes Common, you will find a poignant memorial that marks the spot where, in September 1977, glam rocker Marc Bolan met his untimely end.
In the sleepy churchyard of St Mary Magdalen you will find a truly curious tomb. It is the last resting place of the great Victorian explorer Sir Richard Burton, and it is a remarkable stone depiction of a Bedouin tent.
